Gear Up For Buccaneers Football

Cowboys vs Bucs: Fantasy Spin

September 12th, 2009 at 7:10 am
Houston Texans v Tampa Bay Buccaneers

You’ve poured over the injury report, analyzed the key match ups and looked at your roster to see who you should start in week 1. It’s important because after week 1 some people will be talking some shit and some will be humbled and we all know which side of the fence you want to be on.

Below are players you’ll want to start and keep on the bench before the games kicks off on Sunday.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Nothing screams start me and I don’t see much value in the offensive or defensive line up for non IDP leagues.

TE Kellen Winslow and RB Derrick Ward are the two guys on the Bucs team that could produce some numbers. Kellen Winslow will get his far share of balls thrown to him. The question is whether or not the Bucs can move the ball down the field, so Winslow has a chance to score. I don’t see it happening, but he’ll probably finish 7 catches for 65 yards. Derrick Ward will get the majority of carries, but Earnest Graham and Carnell Williams will take a few away. The biggest concern should be the loss of carries from other RB’s, but the fact that the Bucs will fall behind quickly and they will have to abandon the run, which will kill Ward’s stats on the day. Ward will have probably finish with 14 carries and 62 yards.

Three things you’ll be tempted to start, but I’m giving you a solid, don’t do it.

1. Antonio “Jesus” Bryant. Dude resurrected his career last season and was one of the better WR sleepers. He also had Jeff Garcia making plays with his feet and throwing him the ball. This season he has Leftwich at QB and so far Leftwich has been all over the place, if you have some other options at WR do it.

2. Byron Leftwich. If he’s on your roster drop him. His turnovers, inconsistancies and Bucs running game is going to hurt you all season.

3. The Buccaneers defense. The Bucs will have one of the worst statistical defenses in the NFL this year. Witten, Williams, Crayton, Miles, Barber, Jones and Romo are too talented and they are going open a can of whoop ass and the Bucs. Buc fan get your drink on early, it will help numb the pain.

Dallas Cowboys

Just about everybody on Cowboys is good to start. Romo and the rest of the offense should score offend and put up some solid yardage across all positions. The cowboys will move the ball too, so Nick Folk will get his field goal chances too.

Although I believe the Dallas defense to be overrated, they will be one of the better defenses in week 1, so start if you got um.

One call out I have is it’s been raining in the Tampa in the area for 2 straight days and the forecast calls for some more rain during the game on Sunday. I keep seeing some old bearded dude trying to gather 2 of every animal.
