The Bucs came out of the gate strong. The defense was more than holding their against Romo, Cadillac Williams was running the ball strong and the Bucs were up 7 – 6 after the first quarter. Then the wheels came off the bus and with 46 seconds left in the half, Miles Austin and Tony Romo hooked up for a 42 yard TD reception.
Once the Cowboys saw how weak the Bucs secondary was, they exploited it for the rest of the day. Roy Williams had himself a 66 yard TD and Patrick Crayton had an 80 yard strike that made him look like Usain Bolt. T.O. who? It was bad and when you combine it with the fact that Leftwich was all over the place, it turned out to be a long day.
One of the few bright spots was the running game of Carnell “Cadillac” Williams and Derrick Ward. The Cadillac averaged 7.5 yards a carry and Ward averaged 5.2. The only problem was the Bucs had to abandon the running game, because the fricking defense couldn’t stop the pass. I thought last year’s defense backs coach was Raheem Morris?
I have to give some props to Michael Clayton for being a man and holding onto the ball and making the catch while Gerald Sensabaugh layed a monster hit on him. Not only did I think Clayton would drop it after the collision, I didn’t he’d get up. It turns out Gerald Sensabaugh injured his shoulder and had to leave the game. For me it was the Bucs play of the game.
The Bucs secondary was sad. Ronde Barder struggled with man coverage and Sabby Piscitelli’s #21 got plenty of airtime, because he was beat deep often. The Bucs have to figure out a way to patch it together and Leftwich needs to be more consistent. The Cowboys are overrated, so that doesn’t say much for the Bucs. I’m still sticking with a 3 – 13 record this season give or take 3 wins.
