If you haven’t checked the standing the Bucs are only 6 games out of the Wild Card race, which means they are mathematically eliminated from the 2009 playoffs. I have one simple question: Are the Bucs better off losing the remaining games and securing 1 of the top 3 picks or winning a few for morale and mental well being?
Honestly, I would like the Bucs to just lose out. To me it doesn’t matter if they win 1 game or a few games, because the season is still going to be a complete disaster regardless. 3 of the remaining 5 games are winnable for the Bucs: Jets, Seattle and Falcons (as long as Matt Ryan is out) and I’d actually be disappointed if they won 2 of them.
The Bucs are in a dogfight with the Rams and Browns for the top pick and I can handle 1 more win, because the Rams will probably take a QB, which the Bucs don’t need. The Bucs do need help against the run and there happens to be 2 defensive tackles that would be would be an awesome fit for the Bucs: Ndamukong Suh out of Nebraska and Gerald McCoy out of Oklahoma. If the Bucs win too many games, those guys are gone. So at the end of the day, let’s keep it competitive, but don’t ruin the future for a few worthless wins now. 1 – 15 is sounding better everyday.
