The Bucs Are Still In It With Blowout Loss to Saints

The Saints romped the Bucs and couple that with an improbable Detroit Lions comeback, it’s a 3 team race for the top pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. The Cleveland Browns, St. Louis Rams and your very own Tampa Bay Buccaneers are all 1-9 and desperately trying to lock down next year’s number one pick. I don’t think the top pick should be given to a team with the worst record, I think they should have to play a neutral site game in the worst of the conditions and the winner of the game have the right to the #1 pick. As we get closer to the end of the season we’ll talk more about that, but back to yesterday’s game.

New Orleans Saints v Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Even linebacker #57 Adam Hayword is throwing up 1 finger, which I can only guess meant #1 pick.

I love stats and a few stuck out as I watched the Saints offense dismantle the Bucs defense.

0 sacks, which helped lead to 0 interceptions. Pass rush and interceptions go hand and hand. Every game the Bucs have a good pass rush the secondary has a good game.

65% of Drew Brees’ passes were completed (19 of 29). He threw for an ordinary 187 yards, but had 3 TD’s and 0 INT’s. He finished the game with an RTG of 118.0

Rookie QB Josh Freeman completed 51% of his passes (17 of 33) for 126 yards and 1 TB, but he tossed 3 INT’s, one of which was horrible. His RTG was 33.1.

The Saints converted when it mattered too. They converted 43% of 3rd downs, 50% of 4th downs and they were 5/5 in red zone efficiency.

I can’t get too down the Bucs. In my opinion the Saints are the best team in the NFL and they did what they should do against inferior teams, which the Bucs are. The Bucs are young on defense and they will have a chance to add some serious talent in the draft and hopefully free agency too, if the Glazers sell the team to someone who wants to win.

The Bucs are finishing the season with 4 out of the next 6 on the road.

@ Falcons, @ Panthers, Jets, @ Seahawks, @ Saints and Falcons.

The Jets are struggling and the Bucs will have a chance to win that one, but 1-15 is looming large.

Remember it’s about a boy named Suh.
